She sits up in bed and watches his blood drying on the walls- he was a fun one, this man, he had flirted, he had laughed and in due time he had screamed just as prettily. He had been a pretty bleeder too and had fallen in a most dramatic way- leaving stains splattered up the wall and a thoroughly interesting story for the hotel workers to whisper in the future.
She wallows for a few more seconds in that happy space between being asleep and being awake, then rose and slipped into the bathroom- stepping daintily over the body as she did so and rubbing off some of the blood caked onto her arm. It always came off easier if she waited for it to set- one useful thing that being trapped as a human had taught her.
There had to be something after all; something to make up for the appalling conscience that kept ruining her showers after nights of fun- even if she stayed in there for almost a hour she could not help feeling dirty somehow.
Today as it happens it takes a even shorter amount of time- almost half a hour in and she has to stop the shower; growling to herself as she clambers out and wraps a towel around herself.
A quick trip (and another hop) back to the bedroom and she is dressed, ready to leave to pastures new… But the man is troubling her again as she reaches the door; glances back to find him staring at the ceiling blankly- his eyes still open despite his soul having left for final last night.
She hesitates for a long moment and then, hating herself with every step, strides back and shuts the mans eyes- and then drags him back into the bathroom in a rather absent way; they won’t catch her but it still pays to be cautious, still pays to maintain her bright smile as she walks out of the hotel and melts into the crowd.
They won’t catch her for she’s a demon and better than them (even if trapped in human form), but this sudden guilt might… It’s best to reduce it; best not to take chances.
Even if it’ll never go away.
