One thing I really like about this series is how your own perspective as a parent (which I share) has such an impact on the direction your story takes.
I've often wondered what it would be like to be in the shoes of Hermione's parents, sending their young daughter away to a school they would never see, completely ignorant of the culture and environment in which she would be raised from that point on.
This post is another good example of a neat way you're showing us how all that would play out for a student. Makes me wonder how Dumbledore would've responded to such a letter! I also wonder if Hermione's parents ever made such requests.
In fact, are the questions Sophie references such that Hermione would have been able to answer, or are they all so specific to Hogwarts that only a staff member could address them?
I have to admit, one of the things I'm doing here is addressing all the things that bothered me when I read the books. (I can't imagine being in Hermione's parents' shoes, either. Wow.)
I think, in part, Sophie's just getting tired of the questions, and is hoping for someone to settle Daphne down just a bit. (I can just hear Max--and feel for Sophie. ;-P)
