I'll try to remember to post pictures on this. Max decided to join the chorus (open to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students). They practiced after school once a week for the second half of the school year and had two performances: The Elementary Schools Talent Show (our town has two K-8 elementary schools) and they participated in the high school's Chorale concert. I forgot to post about the talent show (which was wonderful), but tonight was the high school concert. And it was awesome!
The HS chorale went on tour in England over spring break: three churches and, from what I can tell, mostly religious music. They performed some of each tonight, and they were incredible. In the second half of the program (the patriotic half), they perform "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the elementary schools that feed into the high school. (Three, because it covers two towns.) And it was something else to watch and listen to the younger kids performing with the older kids. First verse was the boys, second was the girls, third was the HS kids and fourth and the refrains was everybody.
Needless to say, they got a standing ovation. It was the climax of the evening. (They ended with the alma mater, but "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" was the true climax.)
It was a good night.
