Notes: For an
inception_kink prompt. Does Arthur wear boxers or briefs? Ariadne decides to find out
It's a burning question she's had for a while now. Six months to be exact. Ever since the first job they completed together, that unforgettable job, Ariadne has picked up a nasty habit. Staring at Arthur's behind when walks, well not just when he walks. She finds she can't look away, ever. And with that staring comes questions. Questions like what kind of underwear does he wear? She never sees a line when he bends, oh so enticingly, to pick something off the floor, so it can't be briefs. Or maybe she's thinking about women and their underwear. She couldn't care less.
She does know it can't possibly be boxers, however. His trousers are always slim fit and they mold to his legs when he walks. Any extra fabric would be visible, right? The question is driving her absolutely batty, as Eames would say. So when they're visiting Eames in Bali, he won't tell tell them what exciting new job he's on, as the team's graduation present to her, Ariadne decides she won't leave the country without finding out for sure. She decides she'll ask Yusuf to sneak a peek into Arthur's luggage when he's in the shower, they are after all sharing a suite. She has enough information to hold over his head to get him to do what she wants without so much as a judgmental eyebrow raise from him.
That plan doesn't work out however. Yusuf can't make the trip, he has to go back to Mombassa. It's an emergency. So Ariadne is left high and dry without anyway of finding out the answer. She can't possibly ask Eames because he will mock her mercilessly. He has no shame and whatever she does have against him, she knows he wouldn't care if the world found out.
She doesn't expect to find out the way she does. Wearing a pretty dress she had bought in Paris especially for this trip, she knocks on Arthur's door. He's rarely late so she decides to walk to his room instead of waiting for him to come to her. When the door wrenches open, Ariadne stumbles back out of shock. Arthur stands before her, nearly nude. His hair is wet and plastered to his forehead, his towel is draped over his shoulder and he's wearing underwear. Ariadne fights to breathe properly as her eyes traces the droplets of water, he wasn't finished toweling off, as they make their way down his toned chest to the waistband of his boxer briefs.
Ariadne enjoys the rest of her trip immensely. When Arthur walks by her after this, not quite able to meet her eyes because he's embarrassed that he wasn't on time and she has seen him in a state of disarray, Ariadne smiles and sips her iced tea. The nagging question is gone, but a new one is beginning to take its place.
What is that scent Arthur wears? It's intoxicating and familiar.
