How does shit like this: "Ideal candidate is a recent graduate with 2-5 years marketing experience." make sense?

Are employers seriously that out of touch with the world? Who gets 5 years worth of industry experience before they graduate? Do they realize that would imply the average graduate started working in their field at the age of 17? Do they figure maybe we go to college so we can hope to get into the industry afterwards?

I get really angry finding stuff like that on a job requirement for an entry level position. It's basically a Catch-22; you have to get a degree to qualify for a job, but you can't get it unless you've magically been working in the field all along.

Job searches are supposed to be frustrating, but asinine shit like that really makes me wanna go deck whoever's responsible back to reality.
