Morning,
So... now that I'm a blacksmith apprentice I enjoy my job. Perhaps love it. I get up and I don't think "Fuck... how can I get out of this..." I get up and I just get up -- go in a bit early, leave a little late. I'll also be going in on my weekends probably once I get more knowledgeable about it all. Hopefully I don't fuck it up.
On a related note... I have two people wanting something. The Sword of Kahless (so close to a French swear word) and another unknown weapon. It'd cost you Scott for me to make that and you'd have to wait a year probably before I could consider starting it. You'd just have to pay for the materials since they'd take it out of my paycheque. I think I want to make one of these handmade vices they have in the shop for my dad at some point too. But until I get going, I'll probably be tinkering with small things. I'm willing to take "commissions" though you'd have to wait at least a year depending on how complicated it is. And I put commissions in quotes because really until it was my own shop I'd just want to be paid for how much they dock my pay. I'm making 13.50$/hour currently and the other apprentice has been there for a year and a half and he makes 31.50$/hour apparently... so all the more reason not to fuck up.
I've made a simple drop-latch for a gate so far and twisted and hammered some rods to look like grain. I'll be making more grain next week since the gate is done and now working on two medallions for a beer company.
Evening,
I.M. squeezing these little clamps to make my wrists and fingers stronger... ladies ;)
