Now that's what I call being between a rock and a hard place. And Alma, of all people, is becoming the model of tolerance!!! Oh, Lori, you have a wicked sense of timing. Wonderful update, and can't wait to see where you take it.

12 Steppers are Awesome! gentleposter March 7 2007, 04:29:44 UTC
This is my favorite fic. I just love it. Being married to a 12-stepper, and now knowing that Ken is one, makes me very hopeful that Ennis won't lose a brother to the truth. Fearlessly looking at reality head-on with trust in God is the essence of the program. Ken should appreciate his honesty (when he finally quits LYING, that is!)

Ennis rubbed soap through his hair, shaking his head and marveling at the unplumbed depths of his ineptitude at this sort of thing.

LOL I LOVE that line - it's priceless!

Agreed! I'm a friend of Bill W. myself and if there's one thing a 12-stepper should take to heart, it's Acceptance of life on life's terms (page 417 in the AA Big Book 4th Edition in the chapter Acceptance in the Answer).

I was delighted to see Ken be honest with his brother. I'm interested to see how Ken, as a recoverying alcoholic, will handle his brother's sexual orientation. I'll give him his "being human" time, but I do hope he remembers page 417 (although in the 80s, it would be page 449 in the 3rd edition.) :-)

Big Book Thumper ;-)
