Instructor: The Question (Mr.Question or Mr.Q is acceptable.)
Course Information: Technology Systems, and if you get permission by the instructor, Computer Science 1A.
Office Hours: By appointment, directly after class, and The Question will be available after school on Thursdays.
Overview:
-Technology Systems: This course is intended to teach an overview on hardware, operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and some Linux/Unix), networking, and usage of various applications.
-Computer Science 1A: This course is intended to teach the basics in programming, including the abstract thinking needed as well as a foundation in modern programming languages.
Required Materials: Beyond the basic pen/pencil and paper, these classes require some sort of memory device. Floppy disc, USB Thumbdrive, iPod, anything that can contain a number of documents. This will be expected to be on your person at all times. If possible, wear shoes without laces (or, at least, no aglets), and never, ever bring gum into my class. I will know if you have it on your person and it will be confiscated. In addition, having a metal fork on hand is suggested, but not necessary.
Assessments: In both classes, there will be homework, in-class assignments, and projects, as well as the standard quizzes and tests.
Make-Ups and Extra Credit: Missed in-class assignments, homework as well as projects may be made up with full credit only if there is a plausible excuse. These excuses must be documented and there should be a copy for my files. Missed Tests and Quizzes must be made up for after school. These make-ups will be an alternate version and harder than the originals. Forks, toothpicks, and other such small objects can be turned in for minor extra credit. Peanut butter and pickles (crunchy and dill, respectively) as well.
Cheating: I will know if you are cheating. In class cheating will net you a zero for the assignment (and if there is more than one person involved, both get one), and cheated homeworks and projects will also get a zero. After the first zero for cheating, there will be detention assigned, and we all know how bad the detention is.
Special accommodations available, but must be arranged with me ahead of time, preferably within the first day of class.
