Title: Mate Over Mine

I head down the corridor towards the tea machine to find Annie. She’s not there. I’m guessing she ran out of change and didn’t succeed in tampering with the machine in other ways and left.

I put my senses out to find her.

Human, human, human, brother - Seth, master - Herrick, human, mate - George, human, human, mine.

Wait, mine? There’s only one of those left alive.

I focus in on her and start moving towards her.

Mine gets stronger as mate gets weaker.

I start to run.

I am holding Lauren to the wall by her neck; her toes barely graze the floor.

“Mitchell! Mitchell! You’re - you’re killing -!” she squirms, then cocks her head to the side (as far as she can), “Oh, wait, we’ve been here before. Put me down Mitchell.”

I snarl and keep her there.

I swivel my hand on her neck so that it’s pushing her head aside. I push my body against her so that she’s sandwiched between me and the wall.

I bite down hard on her neck. It’s not the bites I’ve given her before, the hot, sexy, pleasurable kind. What I’ve done is the equivalent of kneeing someone in the nuts when you’ve previously been giving them hand jobs. This bite will hurt. It could kill.

She squeaks my name again and I pull back and spit her blood out of my mouth. It’s a sign of complete disrespect. But it means I’m no longer killing her.

She collapses against the wall with her hand over her neck, though it doesn’t seem to affect the blood flow at all.

I pick her up by the collar of her coat and bring her face close to mine.

“You’re not dead. You can try and find a doctor and tell them you re-opened a wound but I hope you don’t survive.”

I throw drag her down the empty corridor and throw her in an empty lift. I swipe a hand down all the buttons. They light up orange around the edge.

“If you survive, don’t ever come back.”

The doors slide shut and I remember George.
