Topic: What makes someone a hero? What makes someone a villain?

My dad used to say that a hero was defined by his actions and if anybody knew about heroes it was my dad; but you know what I’ve learned ever since I got onboard Moya? Everybody has the capacity to be a hero and a villain - it isn’t black and white, it’s all just a murky shade of grey.

Nobody’s straightforward, nobody does the right thing all the time and not everybody acts out of selfish reason, and a lot of the time they’re under the misguided notion that what they’re doing is serving the greater good.

I think it’s easy to say somebody’s a hero and somebody’s a villain, it doesn’t leave any room for guessing and it doesn’t make you want to question them or their actions - they just happened because they’re a hero or a villain, it's as simple as that; but it's not, nothing is ever that simple.

In my experience everything boils down to choices and it’s those choices that define you as a hero or a villain and a lot of the time you sway from one to the other, because life is hard and sometimes you need to be a hero and sometimes you need to be a villain just to survive.

Life isn’t constant and people aren’t either, it’s something you learn after you’ve had enough experience with them.
