Serenity.

Somewhere across the world there's a serene breeze
wafting through a beautiful valley
untouched by humans.
It's peaceful, and bittersweet.
But only if one thinks about it.
The valley doesn't comprehend you,
or your admiration for it.
In fact,
a herd of greedy, stupid fools could swarm down
into it's impeccable breadth
and build smoke bellowing atrocities in it's belly
and the valley wouldn't put up a fight.
It is infinitely indifferent.

Your emotions are not intangible
or spiritually rooted.
They are electrical transfers of energy;
Patterned firings going off between synapses.
You, like the valley, can't really "care".
"caring" is a only a word.
It's associated meaning
merely a by-product of linguistics.
And linguistics
merely a by-product of evolutionary compulsion.

The global population is actually increasing faster than exponentially, when you consider growth rates since the dawn of homosapiens. How so you ask? Well, there are a host of complicated theories one could observe to explain this, but the answer is actually very, very simple.

Energy.

The average car gets 23 miles out of a gallon of gas on the highway. It would take 6 weeks of high labor at a rate of 40 hours a week for 1 healthy adult male to push the average car that distance. Yet that gallon of gas only cost a little over $4. That same gallon used to cost 10 cents. Everything in this world is being powered by petrol. EVERYTHING. Even plastics and medicines vital for our daily life and comfort have petrol extracts. Humans have effectively rode a wave of petrol into the present day. Petrol is incredibly efficient at producing a mass amount of energy at little cost.

Enough energy to propel an entire species into swallowing up the planet and multiplying beyond their very own means at a rate only a 100 million years of worth of decayed living things could produce.

Humans ARE NOT preparing for life post-petrol. The world will be like something you could never imagine because every living person today has lived almost their entire life in a world completely affected and reliant on fossil fuels. The crutch of money, and more specifically, the global economy has made it certain that phasing out petrol would launch us into catastrophe. However, using all the petrol up will yield the same result. In the next century, humanity is going to get drastically different. Here's what needs to happen, but won't because the idiots outnumber the pure of heart and mind, and the prideful ego-driven pricks outnumber the humble and considerate.

Population control. Meaning, every child born is planned and accounted for statistically. Forced birth control.

-The elimination of currency.

-A well thought out sustainable global life model.

-A minor number of volunteer workers for various menial tasks. I sure as hell would be willing. better than pushing heavy furniture around for consumerism.

-Passionate engineers dedicated to decoding models to execute renewability and resource management.

There is enough resources and materials to house, feed, educate and run a society in which there is no need for greed. We will HAVE everything that is needed and be left with nothing but time and energy to focus on important things like developing our mental capacities and exploring science and the cosmos on microscopic and telescopic levels. Imagine, no money means no greed. No war means no hate. Lennon would finally rest easy, at least.

Control the amount of people. Eliminate money. Use our intelligence and technology to rationally take care of each other.

Instead, the world will go to shit. All I'll have with me is love and compassion should I survive it long enough. The worst that will happen is corrupted/ego-minded fools will swallow me up in some ugly corner of the world and inadvertently donate the energy coursing through my body back to the cosmos.

I will become one with the serene indifference of the valley. If this fate was good enough for my father, I will gladly give in to it should my time come.
