an adventure was had today. i woke up late in the day, cursing myself for ruining my tasty sleep schedule, which had me only 2 days previous arising at 5am. the next day i was up at 10, not too bad but today: 2f'ing pm. hate:self. some time after escaping the cruel clutches of sleep, evan called me, said he wanted to come over to finish watching the movie 'bottle rocket' which was joyous news as i had serious doubts he'd like that film. mike willsen soon called me as well & said he'd be over after work. when he got here, he said he saw some kittens on the tibbets pathway from mclean ave along midland which serves as the quickest walking route from my abode to mclean. he took a picture with his camera phone and we didn't really think much of it. later on, ishmail (which i'm unsure if i'm spelling it correctly; regardless, his name is the same as the one from the opening line of 'moby dick' for anyone whose minds simply cannot handle anything other than the absolute correct spelling of the name.) came as he & mike wished to partake in the smoking of, um... something. so they go & do that and a while later, is starts to rain a bit. & then it became a monsoon within 5 seconds. as i look out the window, i see mike & ishmail running to my building, i let them in & they say "we're gonna go save the kitties!" so, i grabbed my shoes, grabbed a box & a shirt to use as a cover (which i should have taken a bigger one) & we were off to save the kitties. as we exited my apartment, we saw my mom & our neighbor who attempted to talk to me, but i broke through their verbal barrier yelling, "gotta save the kitties!", the elevator door opened with 2 more neighbors with luggage who my mom asked that i helped. under normal circumstances i would, but i had to resist, again yelling, "KITTIES!!"we trekked down to their locale: huddled under a thorn bush which would later prove to be an issue. immediately one came out, with an "M" emblazened on his forehead in fur, he would be named Mastercat. he was also the 1st one out that mike saw. we quickly got 3 more in the box, thinking that was all... we were wrong.... DEAD wrong. we then saw a fifth, a sixth, a ninth, an ELEVENTH kitten in the thick, thorned bushel! "we're gonna need a bigger box" i said. well, no, i didn't but i should've as mike & i rushed back to my homestead to retrieve not a bigger but a second box, forgetting a covering for it and then hurried back. we got the kittens into the box, called everyone we could, but no one could assist our newfound friends. we got evan's mom to come, not thinking she'd be pleased (as punch, no less) to help the li'l guys out. she arrived and i met her to retrieve anotherbox, this one with a top and went back with it. i then took a box with 4 kittens who persistently attempted to get out of the box. upon depositing the little ones in the van, i returned to see ishmail with his own shirt as a cover bringing a second box to the van. i got there to see evan trying in vain to bring in one of the last 2 kittens out with the hook-handle of the umbrella. this was the tough guy. he had a mean face and would hiss & scratch the whole day as evan & ishmail attempted to take it in. they thought him ferocious, but as i was covered in sweat and feeling weary of this, i threw my hand in and grabbed the little fella as evan swept him towards us with the umbrella. as i held him, though, he was calmed. i put him in the box and he began to eat the food. we had mike rush him to the van to deposit him in another box and return with that one as we knew the last one, yelper as he'd come to be known, would prove difficult. he was deep in the thorny brush. we were unable to grab him as pulling him out without hurting him would be impossible. so, evan and i probed deep into the bush, crouching, as i held back as many thorny vines as possible allowing evan to get in deeper as he held mike's ipod which provided the only light available at this point, our little buddy yelping all the while (hence the name). finally, with a thorn caught in his face and another in his neck, evan got yelper out and we rushed to the van. well, not at first as both mine & evan's legs were unable to move hastily, having been crouching for so long. but we soon got the kitten to the van & were on our way. we put them all into a large box & watched them frolic. they're all awesome. we gave a few temporary names and have our possible choices planned out. evan's taking at least one, he wants 2 &, having just talked to my mom about it, i'll be taking one as well. they are as follows (again, names are temporary, especially those given away):
1) goku: orange tabby; evan's favorite, named after the dragon ball z character at evan's dad's suggestion.
2) vegeta: grey; evan's 2nd favorite, named after another dbz character as he & goku were playing together a lot.
3) mastercat: grey with white striped on belly; one of my possible choices, named for the "M" shape on his head
4) yelper: very light orange tabby; named for his inability to shut up, even while eating & drinking milk he yelps.
5) tough guy: grey body, tabby head; another choice of mine, he's the smallest one of 'em all, but the toughest. i kinda feel like there's a connection there as i was the only one to get him in the box
6) scamp: tabby; definitely a temp. name, another choice of mine
7) unnamed: tabby; playful, unsure which tabby i'd choose, if i choose a tabby at all
8) snow: persian; another very temp. has really cool eyes; the iris is blue-ish (they all are actually) but the pupil constantly has that red tint that you usually only see in certain lights
9) europa: persian with a spotted nose, almost freckle-like; named by evan's dad after the moon of another planet (don't remember which) that is constantly covered in ice. his pick should they keep 2 cats, & evan's mom's pick (but she only wants 1)
10) surly: light orange trabby; named as he the look of a just woken up drunk by me right now
11) unnamed: light orange tabby

they're all really friendly, almost eerily friendly. all of them but the last 2 came very willingly to eat the food we put out for them and the last are still just as friendly now, they were just hesitant. they weren't scared at all of anyone else who held them or came in, not even evan's dog blizzard.

so, if anyone wants a cute li'l kitty cat, just talk to me or evan. they're currently all staying at evan's house. so you go ahead & take a kitten or 6, i'm gonna go sleep & try to pick one of the kitties for meself. liam over & heckyes!
