alarm-ing!

Something of note today: After 15+ years, my clock radio alarm has stopped working.
[A Moment of Silence]

Yes, I've had the same Sony Dream Machine dual alarm clock radio for over 15 years and it never let me down until now. When I was setting it last night I noticed something was wrong. Usually, I'll hit the radio button, it'll go on briefly, and then I'll hit the alarm reset button. It's not a necessary step because I always have the alarm switch set to radio during the week, but it's something to do for my own peace of mind. Anyway, lo and behold, last night the radio didn't play when I did that. It was unexpected and I fiddled with the volume and misc switches to no avail. It wouldn't play. The clock itself was still running, so I decided to leave the alarm switch set to radio and set my cell phone alarm as well. This morning the radio alarm went off (yay!!), but the snooze button didn't work (boo!!). I pounded on it and hit all of the buttons and it finally turned off. Sigh. It is no longer reliable. Game over.

At this point I may just grab the extra clock radio from the guest room, but I'm kind of giddy at the thought of getting a new one. What will it be? Should I stick with a Sony? It was so good to me. This morning in preparation for this post I did a google search for my alarm clock. Of course I didn't find the exact white/yellowed model, but I found some similar ones.

The model most similar to mine is this one:

Looks nice, huh? Harmless, right? Well, it is until you read the ad for it! It's a clock radio with a Spy Cam!!! OMFG!!! How long have these been out?!! 15 years maybe?!! How much have they seen?!!

clocks, spy, sleep
