MANILA, Philippines - Filipinos braved the threat of violence to choose local and congressional representatives Monday in elections likely to do little to ease political instability and animosity. (Paul Alexander, AP)
This is just sad, people. When I was a kid, I used to think that the elections brought about change... that the elections gave the people what they want, that the elections made the country... happier. People elected into government positions are supposed to help, aren't they? Public service, not career?
How naive I was as a kid. :(
I'm tired of hearing "Kapag nanalo ako, matatapos ang paghihirap ng Pilipinas."
Nakakaasar.
(I'm so confused. How do the leaders of a supposedly poor country spit out millions for National Elections? But they can't do anything to feed those dying of hunger. How can they stomach that? :/)
