Tiny (fiancee's nickname) came home from work last night with this great big, closed box. He sits down next to me and opens it. Inside are two beautiful poinsettia plants. "Pick one." He says.
On was a pale red that was kind of speckled and mottled with white/green specks, the other was a beautiful, lush plant with leaves such a deep red they looked like velvet. I immediately chose the latter. He saved the first one to take home to his mom. :) I had mentioned to him recently that I never had a poinsettia before, so he remembered and brought me one home. I put it right in the middle if my "new" dining table. (which happens to be my grandmother's 100 year old dining table that my family recently gave me! It's so much larger than ours was and much more meaningful to me, as I pretty much grew up around that table.)
THEN, he takes my hand and says "One more surprise. Come with me." He leads me out the front door, where he has the truck backed up to the front yard. He clicks the truck's remote alarm button on his keychain and the truck bed is instantly flooded with light-to reveal a little tiny REAL Christmas tree!!! I have NEVER had a real tree before!! I'm so excited!!! We're putting up a 6 foot fake one in the living room but I had told him I would love to have a smaller one for the landing on the stairs. The one he brought home was maybe 3/3 and a half feet high. It's so neat! My kids were super excited too because we always have a fake tree and they had asked me for a real one this year. They set to work shoving ornaments on it right way while Tiny and I made dinner LOL.
For dinner we made stuffed hamburgers: basically two thin burger patties with stuffing in between. We stuffed them with shredded cheddar cheese, diced onion, mushrooms, and green bell pepper. I used extra lean (4% fat ground beef) and we served them on whole grain/high fiber hamburger buns. I assembled/chopped/prepped everything and he did the grilling. We also had baked potatoes with sour cream, steamed green beans, and a side salad. Dinner was yummy! I love nights when he and I cook dinner together, it's so nice. I also love grilled food so it works out especially well lol.
I had him hang up a white board in the hallway the other day to keep track of important days/messages/etc. This morning he had to leave for work early. I woke up to this message on the board: "Babe, Have a good day. I love you/i'll call you at lunchtime. P.S. Have tamales and eggs for breakfast." Then there was a heart with the words "Love You" inside of it and an arrow through it lol. I looked in the freezer and he had left me like a half dozen tamales! Yummmmmmmmy!!! I didn't have any for brekkie but i'll be having one tamale and a scrambled egg for lunch. MMMMMM good!!
