I'm unhappy with the lack of Yorkshire Doctor in this trailer, but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose. Lot's of planets have a Yorkshire. I like that, actually. In fact...

I happen to find the difference between the style of the UK and the US trailers hi-larious. I mean, yes, enough people in the US haven't heard of DW to necessitate a bit of exposition, but... really? Liked the new footage, though. (And the "we filmed an episode in AMURICA!" backrubbing was surprisingly nice... maybe I just like being flattered.)

Sword of Shannara is pretty bad, at least the parts of the first book that I read (I couldn't get through it). I think it could be enjoyable in the sense of the "Tolkien clone trying desperately not to be so bad it's good" enjoyable, but such books are better endured with friends (or with a sporking blog) and alcohol. Although drinking every single time Brooks describes gnomes as being yellow would probably kill your liver...

I did a weekend in Edinburgh when I was in the UK, and honestly, just rambling around the old parts of town with its steep roads and "Holy cow that thing I thought was a road is a bridge?" etc. was the most enjoyable for me. Other than that there's the typical touristy stuff: a Scotch still you can tour, umpteen shops on the Royal Mile, pubs innumerable, the Sir Walter Scott monument which is huge and highly ascendable (hooray for the age of nationalism!). There's also this Royal park thing a ways off with a hill that some of our group decided to go up for no apparent reason (the castle was closed, because the wind was so strong, so we were all somewhat at a loss).

I hope that the "may be" turns into a "will be," and that there will be much amusion there.

Shannara drinking game:

Mentioning "pointed ears" or "delicately arched eyebrows" or "bolts of magic".
Too-perfect grammar.
The words "taciturn" or "acquiesce".
Total ripoff of a LotR scene.
Allanon keeps a secret.
Durin. The elf.

"the other" used to refer to any character at all.
Similarly, "the Valeman" or whatever weird title Menion has, used to refer to the character instead of his name.
Scratch that. ANY poor attempt at a kenning deserves a drink.
Any reference to the idea that this is a post-nuclear meltdown world.

Waterfall when a character "dies," and another one when the character shows up again.

I'm only a few chapters in and I've already noticed most of these several times. XD

They never did this for Croatia when they filmed that Vampires in Venice episode. XD
AMURICA IS SPORSHAL!

There's a lot of jumping around in PoV, something I've become very aware of recently, so maybe I'm nitpicking.

Mmm Touristy stuff! :D I'll see what happens. Bridge roads sound exciting!
