Any Quenya gurus out there?

Probably to avoid doing other things, I've briefly taken up my recurring and futile quest to Quenya-ize the name Draugluin.  As usual, a satisfactory result is not cropping up in my dictionary-combing.  Rácoluin seems to be the nearest in meaning and phonemes, but I really don't like it.

My go-to guru for questions of language in Middle-earth is elvses a.k.a. Darth Fingon. You might consider registering on the Lizard Council and posing the question there or PMing him.

You've likely encountered his Sindarin and Quenya name generators, which may be found here. If I were to fumble around (and I will), I'd be inclined to go for Raucoluinon (if you want to retain the "blue") or Raucolun (rauco/demon + lun/dark). At least that sounds more like Draugluin. But again, I'm a hack. I recommend asking Darth.

Is the Lizard Council generally newbie-friendly? (I'm not at all adverse to registering and setting my query down there, but I ask because my historic social anxiety has been on the uptick lately..)

Thanks for your suggestion. The sound is indeed much closer to that of the Sindarin which is important, but I've been wanting to avoid darker meanings. I've been wanting to retain some of the 'wolf' meaning if possible.

Ooh, actually I hadn't seen Darth's name generator. *shiny new distraction!* I've yet to have occasion for having an OC with a large enough role to merit naming, otherwise I daresay I'd have found it earlier. Thus far most of my work focuses so much on dysfunction between minor canon characters that I haven't had need of my own OCs, though I can see that someday my (generally chronological) ramblings will reach a point where some will be necessary.

My apologies for the delayed response, Huinarë ( ... )

Wiki-ish type resources have informed me that Draugluin means roughly "blue wolf" and/or "pale wolf." Since I know Jacques squat about Sindarin I take their word for it; but with my minimal Quenya I can see how 'draug' is very reminiscent of 'rauca'--and 'luin' of 'fuin' and 'huinë' and all those fun darkness-related terms (the latter of which comprises part of my pen-name).

Thanks the elaboration on the LC. I'll head over there some day soon when I'm not supposed to be finishing up homework and errands. =D

For the most part I've got a handle on the SA and have even been known to put up a confident and genial front, but it resurges in mild ways betimes. Many years ago I didn't leave a house for months at one point, so relatively speaking it's no longer an issue!

I'm not on the Lizard Council, but judging by who else is, I think they're very civilized to newbies.
Apparently, you're expected to start by giving a bit of feedback to others before you start asking for crit yourself, but I think that might not even apply to questions like this one.

Thanks for your thoughts, Himring.

(Yeah really I'm not sure what my inner outcast thinks is going to happen...it's not like anyone in this fandom has thus far been anything other than civil or downright kind to me!)
