So this tower called "Perrott's Folly" is allegedly Tolkien's inspiration for Orthanc. I'm...not sure I see it, other than that it's a tall, isolated tower, but okay.
Then there's this
article of questionable coherence, which claims the above, and also has a picture that proves the Mail must not have even the mildest Tolkien geek on staff. How embarrassing for them.
Curumo: THAT IS NOT MY HOUSE. THAT IS MAIRON'S HOUSE. Orthanc is much more attractive than the Evil Lighthouse. I do not have a fucking stupid glowing eye on my house, thank you very much. Just a bit of research before spewing your poorly-written ignorance onto the world wide web; this is all I ask.
Huin: You do realize that the Evil Lighthouse was Peter Jackson's doing and that Mairon would actually find that in very poor taste.
Curumo: You've missed my point, as usual, and I didn't ask for your opinion. It's amusing to picture Mairon living in an Evil LIghthouse, FYI.
Huin: Probably because Mairon triggers all your deep-seated self-esteem issues?
Curumo: I'm going to go lurk in my way-more-attractive-than-Mairon's-house tower now. Which also is not a red brick thing with turrets. Fuck you and good day.
