So, hey guys!
Both of our boys are having a bit of a hard time right now, Rymy had his castration on Monday and Hugo saw vet for another reason on Wednesday. So, long story short, Hugo's on antibiotics again for ten days because he's got a wound (well, a scab now) on his chest that we discovered last Sunday and we have no idea how he's gotten it. I suspect it might have been a spike of his own stuck on his fleece or something on our floor because we haven't added anything new to his cage and it sure as hell hasn't been Rymy's doing, so. Even though we check Hugo every day, the wound has been on such a spot and hidden by his fur that we just have not seen it, for which I feel really bad. And Hugo being a hedgehog, not a dog, it's not like he's shown any signs of being hurt the way Rymy would have. Even his walking has been completely normal though the wound is right beside his leg. These little fellows are just amazing in that sense.
When we finally did notice it, it was because a piece of his skin simply detached in a bath. It looked as if it was inflamed tissue and I completely freaked out, but apparently the wound was already getting better at that point as it was, presumably, just the old skin coming off to be replaced by the scab.
Anyway, I just wanted to share Hugo's medical case summary (8.8.12) in case it'll help someone else, or us, in the future :)
- Hugo was brought to the clinic due a inflamed wound on his chest. There is a scab on the wound right now, the skin around it looks calm. At home the wound will be cleaned by using diluted Betadine (two drops of it into a glass, add tap water until it looks like strong tee/whiskey) two times a day. After cleaning, needs to be patted dry. So called local care will be especially important after the scab falls off. Antibiotics orally. If the wound isn't completely healed at the end of the treatment, call the clinic for more instructions.
So, yeah, wish us (or Hugo) a luck and send us a loads of good healing vibes, 'kay?

Then a small picspam from last month, enjoy!
