As of today, I've been in Jamestown a week, and yesterday I moved into an apartment. So far, I have to say the biggest challenge has been the cold that I brought with me. I started the week feeling it just enough to keep me from sleeping well. By Tuesday, it would probably have been wise for me to have just stayed in my hotel room. But I made it through the week, and I think that things went fairly well, especially considering my condition.
It has been kind of weird though...Working at Environ I worked at least as hard as I did in this last week, for half the pay. I wouldn't go so far as to say I felt guilty, but it did leave me feeling like I should look for more to do. On the other hand, that has been my general experience, the higher the pay, the less actual work I have to do. From the sounds of it though, this is more or less the 'calm before the storm.' So soon enough I should have plenty to keep me occupied and I should be thankful that I've had the time to get over my cold and move into my new place.
Of course, I don't really have an internet connection or power in my name right now. Troublesome perhaps, but not, apparently enough to stop me from connecting to the internet. Someone nearby has apparently been kind enough to leave their connection unsecured. The signal isn't great, and it's non-existent when the wind kicks up, but right now it seems to be holding. I'm still going to see if I can get my own connection, but until then...
