yes, that's me, graceful. Full of grace. Last night I rode the trimet to the mall. As I exited the mall, which is about a block from the stop, the train pulled up. They're pretty frequent, but I decided to make a run for it. Everything was going beautifully. I covered two thirds of the distance before most of the people even got on. And then, I was on the ground. I'm not sure how exactly, but somehow on the perfectly even pavement I lost my footing and went sprawling on the sidewalk. My book slid down the sidewalk for another thirty feet or so. Calmly, I assessed the status of my body, realizing I'd only scraped my right elbow and both hands a little. And the top of my left ankle. Nothing serious, no real blood.
A guy who'd been sitting up the way a bit handed me my book and asked if I was alright. I was, so I thanked him and continued on. I walked the rest of the way to the stop, arriving just as the train left.
Grace.
I really should run more often though. It feels good to be moving like that. Right up until you hit the pavement anyway.
