Well, here's an update on what's going on in my life, in bullet points:
*
Pi-Con was a wonderful experience. I had SUCH a great time, and it was wonderful seeing and spending time with so many great friends. My roomies for the weekend, elionwyr, octoberland, and jcholawa were all fantastic (although apparently our collective snoring made the room sound like a T-Rex Choral...), panels were fun, and con as a whole was fantastic! Not many photos, but the ones I do have I'll post later.
* The hotel that we were in, the Crown Plaza in Enfield, was great! They didn't rake us over the coals for food, the service was top notch, and everyone was friendly and helpful. On top of which, the staff went above and beyond for me when I encountered a bit of a problem (more on that later). I will recommend the hotel to anyone, and I hope that Pi-Con will be there again next year.
* Speaking of next year... Pi-Con named me as their "Guest of Awesome" for next year (it's sort of a fan-guest-of-honor thing... they will ask someone who they consider "awesome" to be a guest)! I am, of course, honored... this is the first time I've actually been asked to be a guest at a convention! This will, of course, mean that you will all be strongly encouraged to come to Pi-Con next year to see me! I would recommend this anyway, as they're a great con and could well use the support, but now I've got YET ANOTHER REASON for you to come! :-)
* This coming weekend, I will be attending two - yes, TWO - weddings. Hence, my free time this weekend has been reduced to zero. :-\
*
The Star Trek Exhibit at the Franklin Institute is running through Sep. 20th. I still really, really want to go to this.
* The owner of "hughcasey.com", which has previously been a website dedicated to
the baseball player from the '30's and '40's, let the registration of the domain lapse. Therefore, I am now the proud new owner of "hughcasey.com". Currently, I have NO idea what I'm going to do with it. On a related note... anyone have any idea how to run an RSS feed of my LiveJournal posts to crosspost into Blogger?
* Health-wise, things aren't bad. I just had a full battery of tests done, and I currently have very low cholesteral, and don't seem to be in any imminent danger of diabetes. The asthma has been under control, and I've been able to stay away from any sort of resperatory infections (knock wood). And I don't have any STDs or other nasties that I wasn't aware of. The only bad news is that my blood pressure is running a bit high now, so I'm on BP meds to try to bring it down. Otherwise, however, the body seems to be holding up.
* More later... back to work now!
