Birthday fun

May 11, 2009 21:29

Had a cracking time down in MK for the Trek viewing and got to hang with some good buds for a day or two.

Got down there Friday night straight from work and Narin picked me up from the station, in in exchange for my acquiring a large chocolate cake.
Arrived at Chris's to discover he know has Sky Digital and as a result, me and Naz were able to watch Dexter in glorious Hi-Def! It looks amazing.

Narin cooked up a stonking curry, although I did wander just when we were going to eat - it was gone 10pm!
About 11pm I found out why - there was a knock on the door and Naomi and Steve had arrived and she had cooked for them too!

We hung out and chatted until around 2am then everyone retired for the evening. Saturday morning, Naz knocked up bacon sarnies all round and then we headed into town to pick up the film tickets, at which point I realised whe had more guests due, when Naz bought FOUR tiockets for other people, whilst Naomi had her hair done. Naz popped out to 'pick up some paracetemol' and returned quite some time later, with Nic from Wolverhampton in tow! Naz had pulled another surprise guest masterstroke. Ed and Laura had also arrived by this time by which point it felt like This Is Your Life!

After Steve and Naomi returned with Naomi sporting her new look, we headed off to town for a pub lunch and some chill time for a couple of hours. Nic had to catch a train, so Naz and Chris dropped her off whilst the rest of us headed into the cinema. The other two got back into time to settle down for the film. AND WHAT A FILM!! Best movie of the year so far. Star Trek was fantastic. Great gags, top notch performances, superb effects. A great summer blockbuster. Even the non-Trek fans Steve and Naomi loved it. Job done JJ!

Afterwards we headed back to Chez Slinn (wherein Chris set fire to the lawn!) for a barbie and chilled out for a few hours before Laura and Ed departed.

Sunday morning we had more bacon sarnies and then Naz cooked her famous chicken dinner with many roasties. A quick pressie opeing later and then I was dropped off at the station - had a decent trip back to Brum only  to find my train cancelled. Had to wait an hour at New Street so had time to buy the blu-ray of Close Encounters. I eventually got home at 7.45pm!

I was back at work today and wished I had taken the day off.

Looking forward to the upcoming events now to see some of you again.

TTFN.
