Peru the first

Flight was very long and boring, although thankfully memory seems to have fast forwarded and filed as not worth remembering. Except for when we got near Lima and mountains emerged, rising up and towering over the cloud layer we were flying level with.

Found a chocolate museum after unloading bags at hotel. We had a go at roasting cocoa beans and crushing to paste with pestle and mortar, them spiced and added milk for nice chocolate drink. Then were given pre-made liquid chocolate to flavor and pour into moulds. My Chocolate was orange and ginger flavor, I was proud. Alas, it did not survive past this morning.

Today was tour of Central Lima. Saw cathedrals, gold museum, changing of the guards at the palace, and a monastery with lots of catacombs. There were interesting piles of skeletons in pits. It was fun! I may have hummed 'dem bones'.

We left tour to see more museums, to collect inspiration for our weekend theatre LARP, 'Children of the Sun'. Lots of interesting stuff, especially on different ancient peoples and various deities and myths. Saw a collection of pre-Columbian erotic pots. I was much more disturbed by the sculptures of skeletons with giant erect penises than I was by actual skeletons earlier.
