Post Interview at RIC

Mar 30, 2006 11:25

Well, the interview at RIC is done. They picked me up home from RI and then dropped me back home again at 5pm.
I was challenged if my students would respond as many as the faculty does, since I told them that my teaching features interaction where the students can get engaged while being able to understand the course materials. However, they didn't appear to think so since they thought their students were not be able to give so "in-depth" interactions I need in my teaching. As one faculty pointed out, "your students are smart"---well I know that they implied that RI's students were not as smart so my teaching style may be problematic out there--so there is no good fit! Yikes! What should I do at this post-interview time?
Sigh, it appears to be my faulty not being able to teach "not-so-smart" students since my way of interaction was considered "unrealistic" to them since their students weren't be able to come up with the "in-depth" discussions.

Next time, find some other book chapters that are simplier and more straightforward...so that I won't fall into such trap again!
