warm sugar coated waffle with 2 scoops.
our hotel, the columbia hotel, is right next to hyde park, on lancaster gate. i can see the park from my window. beautiful.
we arrived here yesterday and immediately went out to celebrate chelsea's birthday. we wandered around the city until we found a sushi place. i spent way too much money on this f'ing dinner - but it was delicious. it's the first time i have spent more than about 3 pounds on a meal, so i suppose i can splurge just a little?
after dinner i found what i believe to be heaven. it is literally a waffle that is sugar-coated with two scoops (one chocolate, one vanilla) of gelato. holy mother of god. it is like an orgasm in my mouth. twice.
today we woke up, had a breakfast of toast and jam and then went to hyde park to have class. there were dogs everywhere roaming around without leashes. seriously, millions of dogs. so well-behaved. just wandered around and ran immediately behind their master. then i saw a squirrel. i held my hand out to the little thing and it ran up to me and put its little nose in my hand. then it ran away. crazy.
we went all around the city today. i am in love with the underground. despite the nasty, trashy, feel and the bums that play musical instruments in the corners, i adore the ease of it. i can get around anywhere in this city.
we went to the british library today. it was the most amazing thing i have ever seen.
things i saw:
- original beatles lyrics (of the songs: yesterday, help!, hard days night and a few extra) written on scraps of paper, the back of his sons birthday card, etc.
- magna carta
- divinci sketches
- original written works by sylvia plath, jane austyn, beowulf
- gutenburg bible
- sir issac newton
a group of us went and saw "avenue q" - it was hilarious. i loved it.
okay well now im distracted because a bunch of people just came into the lobby.
