Goodbye to my Hartt

My dearest Nina,

The first time we met, you passed out within the first ten minutes. The next time was my turn at being indisposed. I knew that you would be a true friend after learning all the trouble you went through to return my missing purse back into my faithful arms.

We got off to a rocky start: I have vivid memories of being forcefully told that I was not allowed to be in Velvet if you were there. It was a scary beginning that blossomed into one of the most important friendships of my life.

For many years now, you’ve been my shoulder to cry on, my friend to dance with, my heart. I’m not sad that you are leaving me now. I’m happy for the adventures that you will have; for the place that you will find.

AND I’ve become increasingly good at maintaining long-distant friendships. In fact, I may be better at them than the short distant ones!

So you may be an ocean away from me in body, but in spirit you will always be by my side.

Until we meet again.

All my love,
Amanda
