My art style changes a lot. I mean A LOT. My Comic will look different sometimes page to page. Usually the changes are pretty minor and gradually over time produce very dramatic changes. It's what I do. I SUCKED horribly at the start of drawing EE. I couldn't draw as far as I am concerned (I mean look at the very first
EE page). EE was never made with some big end goal in mind as far as it being published or making me famous ect. I have always used it primarily as a method of my own personal developement (it's one of the reseaons I stopped doing UF, I wanted to wait untilI my skills were more established via EE). Somewhere along the way, people started liking the damn thing. Heaven knows why. Most people seem to be fine with the fact the art has changed dramatically over the years, probably because they are smart enough to realize that the changing, though awkward at times, usually results in making it better. I mean look at
this comparison using my character Karl. That's him in one of his first pages, next to one of his most recent (granted that's a recent page I have yet to display on the site yet, and for the past month due to laptop I have had to rely on inking and colouring of others which I am sure resulted in some changes in style, but I doubt enough to make that big of difference). That I would say, is a pretty big improvement. Did I jump right from point A to point B? No, I went through many evolution stages between them, some of them probably looked worse than previous stages. If I don't try, I'll never improve.
What got me on this is that I had someone recently (I think it was the same person just once on DA and one via email but I might be wrong) tell me they disliked the newest style, specially the faces, and wanted to know if I would be changing it soon. After mentioning the changes they stressed the changing they were fine with just the current style they hated. I mean come on people give me a break here. Yeah, it probably will change again, because I am still not convinced I have hit the mark, and I KNOW there are still plenty of things for me to work on. I have stressed time and time again I am not a proffesional. I do not charge people to look at my work, I don't make much off the comic in general and the money is donated to me, never required. I basically can make this comic at any level of quality I want, you are all lucky I put so much effort into it. I really do. I put around 30 hours a week at least into the thing and that is on top of work and school and any sort of social life. I already know parts of it looks bad/akward, I am working on it. I ALWAYS am working on improving it. I don't need to be bombarded with negative comments (two comments is not being bombarded NJ, yes I know this but this has happened to me in the past too) just because at this very moment it's not completely to your liking. My fans really have no idea how often they come close to losing EE, I have extremely bad self confidence issues with the thing as is.
Really everyone who has an issue with a direction I am taking the story or the art or whatever, if it bugs them THAT MUCH just stop reading the thing and leave me alone.
Ah, another rant is made. Venting is good.
On story-related note something I noticed. I only heard like one negative thing about the
recent blood heavy storyline in EE, mostly just a lot of comment on it being such a big change. One of the things about having such a big comic is I am sure a lot is easily forgotten. Yes this is the most violent EE has been in one storyline, and slightly more so than usual but really the violence has always been there, peole should have felt more prepared for such a thing. I have always used an exesscive amount of blood in any slightly violent situation, I just like making blood.
When Karl got his face torn up, when
shooting up Neffy (It's really funny comparing that part of the storyline between bean and I, because he toned the blood down a lot on his pages which is odd considering HE'S the one who usually known for the violence), when
Fake Karl took on Bob, ect. I'm not actually bothered by people being slightly taken back from the violence in the CRACK storyline (this section isn't part of my rant), just found it sorta humerous most people seemed to act like it never happened in EE before. I like blood, I will overly use it for many sotrylines to come.
Funny thing though, I don't really ever use extremley harsh language and I'll never use full frontal nudity (
only teasers). But yet blood I am fine with. You'd think I would cut back on the blood and just keep everything on a PG-13 rating but apparantly I like my blood brushes too much.
