I Like Yugioh, Deal
So lately I've gotten into Yugioh. Now before anyone thinks differently, no I don't mean I like the stupid card game.
My friend Bean got Orion and I to watch the Yugioh Abridged Series the other day. This guy takes episodes of the 4kids version of Yugioh, redubs them, and condenses the plot to about 5 minutes each. We find them hilarious. Only for the strong nerded. This reminded me that I used to read the manga when a friend lent me Shonen Jump magazines back in high school. I remember it was insanely different from the anime. I actually tried watching the anime a couple times because of it, only to be fully disappointed. Knowing the episodes did make the abridge episodes funnier though. So I decided to read the manga again. I'm currently on volume 4 and so far the card game has happened once. And in this time period Yugi has made like 5 people crazy, made one explode, set another on fire, poisoned one, and electrocuted 5 at once. Instead of cards, they play games like "there's a deadly scorpion in this shoe, there are also coins, let's take turns risking our life and taking coins out" and "we have ourselves a giant cooking stove top over 100 degrees, let's make a hockey puck out of ice and put gunpowder solution inside, when it melts you explode!"
I'm all educated on the Yugioh wiki now too. I'm in the midst of trying to obtain a copy of the original anime based on the first 7 volumes of the manga. Thankfully it's made by different people than those who made the version 4kids took and edited. 4kids won't license it because it's too dark, too violent and unmarketable.
I am glad that anime exists only for the Abridged Series. It's Super Special Awesome!
I finally start using my joournal again and waste it on nerd talk. Now I must go watch Hellsing Ultimate, play Kingdom Hearts and get ready for my RPG.
