Beatrix's mother, Antje, comes from a Pureblood German family that are known to be witches/wizards for as far back as five generations without any muggle influence. Bee's mum spends most of her time at home looking after her little brother, but also manages to make a living out of painting portraits, landscapes and other scenes. Her father on the other hand, Charles, is about as English as they come. And where Antje seems to be the creative one, Charles seems to be the more logical one, he makes his living in the International Magical Office of Law.
Strangely enough, upon arriving at Hogwarts, when she was sorted Beatrix found that the Sorting Hat had seemingly no trouble at all deciding what house she was to reside in for the next seven years. It had decided that she would do quite well in Hufflepuff.
She's hardworking, so much so that when it comes to working on projects she can become a workaholic and very singleminded. Moreoften than not forgetting to go to meals and getting to bed at a decent hour. But that isn't to say that she doesn't know how to have fun though.
Though perhaps the most surprising thing about Beatrix is the fact she is good friends with Quintus Harper. She enjoys poking him with her wand, though only on special occassions and to get his attention. ;) She makes friends easily enough, despite being shy upon first contact and is loyal to the very end.
Despite lacking the level of creativity as her mum, being that in many ways she is more like her dad, Beatrix is nonetheless somewhat creative. She can speak German and French fluently, having learnt German since her mum comes from a German family; and learnt French from her dad (the guy does work in an international office...).
In the case of negative traits, one such 'weakness' is that she is the very epitome of organised chaos. What may look like a diaster zone to you, is perhaps an intricately organised area... perhaps.
