what I've been up to
Oy, I haven't written in a long time. I guess I've been in Guatemala but I had plenty of access to internet so that's no excuse. Have I missed out on recording memories, funny moments, contemplating life rather than just living it?
Probably.
But that's ok. It might bother me tomorrow but today I am alright with it. I am currently translating a letter to the editor from Russian to English so that it might potentially be printed in the local newspaper and my grandma and her neighbors can...ok, it's a long story. Let's just say some old folks are being hurt by bad governmental planning and they're pissed. And they don't speak English. That's where I come in. Although, before I paint myself as the hero of the hour, my participation in this is reluctant and limited to translating this letter and a phone call I will make tomorrow to yell at some government bureaucrat about why he should stop being a bureaucrat and do something rational.
Anywho, moving away from that boring subject...let me make a list.
This is what's happened in the recent past:
- I came back from Guatemala two days ago
- Sarah and I traveled around Guate for the last week I was there. I took lots of pictures which might make their way onto the internet one day
- I finished up my research but also spent the last three weeks of "research" hanging out a lot, traveling a bit, speaking Spanish and doing all kinds of not research-related stuff
- before that I really was doing research
- for six days in July I flew into Cali to hang out with my sister and nephew
Whew, well that pretty much brings you up to date my fair readers. I wish my entry was less boring and more thoughtful. Maybe I will come up with thoughts soon but at the moment this is all I got.
