A Fraccion Approaches!

Nov 19, 2009 22:23

Luke let out a startled grunt as he arrived in this new place, rubbing his eyes and fighting off a wave of dizziness that threatened to overwhelm him. It took him a moment to take in the familiar perfect white walls, the steady hum of machinery, and the lab tools neatly ordered as any scientist would have them. His eyes slowly widened when he did ( Read more... )

[Szayel looks up from his malfunctioning and beeping machine.] Hmmm, yet another intruder? This device is proving quite the annoyance.

[...well, at least some instance of his master was present, even if it wasn't his. Sigh.]

My apologies, Szayel Aporro-sama. I believe the fact that I seem to be naturally bounced back and forth between worlds that are not my own made it easier for your device to pick me up.

[Now this was interesting indeed... Perhaps he could be of some use, after all.]

You have traveled to other worlds? Did you use a device such as mine, or was there another method?

[Luke pulled his notebook off of his belt, flipping through it.]

I have not sensed any outside influence, nor have I come across any devices that may be responsible for the pull back and forth between worlds.

[He tapped his fingers against his book.]

I have thoroughly investigated all the worlds I have found myself in, and yet this alternate version of my own world is the only one that has such an obvious reason behind my presence here.

[Szayel listens to his report patiently.] How curious... I wonder how these other worlds pull people in, if there isn't a machine like my own.

Strangely enough, this machine shouldn't be working at all. It is an unfinished prototype, it started malfunctioning all of a sudden.

Really...?

[He blinked, glancing back at the machine. If this machine just suddenly turned itself on and started pulling people in... then perhaps it could provide clues as to the other worlds that pulled people like himself in... perhaps it could even provide a way home!]

[He quickly flipped to an empty page, scribbling furious notes down on the machine; what it felt like, the noises it was making... he'd have to ask this version of his master for his construction notes, if he would be kind enough to let him study them...]

Yes, it seems to have gained a mind of its own. I have attempted to deactivate it, even unplugging it from the power supply. I cannot even shut off the sirens it seems to be so fond of. It has not been equipped with artificial intelligence, so there is no reason for what it's doing. If it doesn't desist soon, I may have to destroy it, unfortunately.

[Urk! Luke spun back around quickly, clutching his notebook to his chest.]

Szayel Aporro-sama, as someone that is frequently tossed from world to world, I must request some time to study the device. I do not wish for you to be inconvenienced, but this machine may even be able to provide a way home for me and many others in my situation.

[Szayel stares him down, processing this information. The other's research might prove valuable, and it could prove to be a way to eliminate some of the people brought here.]

Very well. However, you must take it somewhere where that infernal noise noise cannot be heard, in addition to that, your research will be shared with me.

[Luke bowed respectfully.]

Of course, Szayel Aporro-sama. Though you are not the same master that created me, I consider it my responsibility to do my best to serve any instance of yourself the best I can.

Excellent. Serve me well, and you will not be punished.

I have my own Fraccion here, you are welcome to stay in their quarters, there should be an area and open futon for you to sleep in.

Thank you for your generosity, Szayel Aporro-sama.

[He straightened, hooking his notebook back to his belt.]

If you wish to refer to me by name, it is Luke. Luke fon Fabre. [he glanced back at the machine, a bit of a smirk coming to his face] ...I'll place this somewhere where it will be less of an annoyance. Perhaps the sexta's room would be more appropriate?

Very well, Luke.

[He smirks.] That would be quite amusing, however, the Sexta is not known for his restraint and would probably annihilate the device.

[He chuckled faintly.]

Of course. I'll look for one of the lesser used rooms then.

[Luke placed his hands on the device, pushing it carefully, mindful not to scrape the floor.]

There are some storage rooms on this floor, one of them should be appropriate for your needs.

[He nodded; he suspected as much, but he didn't want to just assume that all versions of Las Noches were the same. However, if this was at least similar to his own, then he already had the perfect room in mind, and he started off toward it.]
