"Vamonos juntos... y no volveremos a mirar atrás"

It's been like YEARS since I last posted here, but I'm thinking it's a good time to renew my relationship with lj, even for a little bit. Mostly, I'm doing it because I feel the need to talk a bit about my latest tv addiction, which, this time, has absolutely NOTHING to do with american television, and everything to do with the spanish one! Yes Sir!

Having lived in Spain for some time (some of the best months of my life baby), I got to know many of its best artists, even had the chance to meet one of them, an actress that I had grown to adore over the past three years, which was an experience beyond anything I had ever imagined! Being in Europe and not in Hollywood, not only did I get to just enjoy her in the theatre, but I also got to know her personally, talk to her for quite some time and share a few stuff with her. Passing the time, I got to know even more of the spanish art, and so I got introduced, through the tv series "Gran Hotel" that I was watching since last year, to another two actors that have simply gained a special place to my heart through their astouning performances on the show. I hope that one day I'll have the chance to meet them too and get to know them a bit, because i OWE them! They inspired me, after two years of NOTHING, they did inspire me to VID again!!! Vidding is so important to me, but it never comes without ispiration, at least not with the wanted results. And these two people are just so great, that I felt a huge need to vid about their characters and the story they share.

I give you Luz Valdenebro and Roger Coma, also known as Sofía Alarcón and Padre Grau. A BIG THANKS for your excellent work that made me want to do once again what I most love doing in my life!

So, this show takes place in Spain, beginning 1900. I won't say much about its plot, I'll just say it's a mystery series that is really worth watching, and includes some of the greatest names of spanish television and theatre. Luz plays the part of Sofia, sister of the main character, Alicia. She's, in my opinion, the most tragic of all the characters of the show, and I'm saying that having in mind how much has suffered each and every one of them. But her... well, she has ONLY suffered. She has always been what we call the "good daughter", followed the rules of her family without getting credit for it, married a noble man, in order to maintain a good income, although both do love each other, and her greatest weakness is that she cannot say no to her mother's will. Add to that, that her mother sees little in her and always takes advantage of her faith in her, she also has her mother-in-law making her miserable b/c she simply doesn't like her (what a BIATCH!!) and trying to destroy her marriage any way she can.

On the other hand, Roger, appears as a guest star in the 3rd (or is it 4th? they do not really know either) season of the show, playing a priest, father Grau, to whom Sofia confesses, filled with guilt, that she has killed two women. It's something she never told anyone else, not either her husband who covered for her for the first murder, because the 2nd was a friend of his (but a BIATCH nonetheless. She did well to kill that whore! haha!). Suffering from haunted nights by her victims, she couldn't bear it anymore and did the only thing that she believed would aliviate her pain: confession. And it did, since father Grau forgave her and helped her move onwards, without critisizing what she did. Soon, they got to know each other more than any one of them wanted and ended up kinda falling for each other. Talk about forbidden love!! She's married with an adopted child, he's a priest, yet neither could control themselves in front of their feelings.

It's quite a tragic story, because it shows that she is willing to give everything up in order to be happy for once in her life, away from everyone that has caused her so much pain, and that he is willing to sacrifice all the good he does in the area in order to get away from her and not be the reason of a new problem for her. Yet, since they are not in the MAIN story of the show, I doubt that they will be given the proper ending and it's a shame because both of them are GREAT actors and their characters have gained a good portion of the audience that likes them together. Still, they did inspire me, so good or bad ending, they have earned first places in my list of people I want to meet and hug and congratulate for their work! ;)

On an irrelevant note, for those who still remember, happy 3rd "Help Me" anniversary Huddies of the world!
