Darkness slain everything in the room. Slowy she rose carfully placing her foot on the rug, the other in a slipper. The other had gone missing but she accepted this as a loss and moved on.

She walked to the railing of the second floor balcony. She looked down on the drive. His car was gone, and so was he.

When she rose she knew he had left, even before she saw the black concrete missing a fixture that had been there for so long.

Raindrops began to fall and mixed with the warm tears sliding down her cheeks. She cried out of absence, having lost the last straw.

She had broke her camel, and doubtd if she could ever find another, out here in this desert of uncertainty.
