Absolute anything, is Absolute hell
Absolute nothing , is again Absolute hell,
A mixture must be met, between these two, if any sort of peace is to be obtained.

Monotony is the left side of this spectrum
Variety is the right side.

Wake. Eat. Work. Eat. Sleep. If this is the basic explanation of a day, you might be experiencing monotony. Of course there will be more, but if you go to the end of the left side, of monotony, you will find you have no place outside your routine. Your actions will become so ingrained that a numbness will encase your day, and you will be in a state of mechanic-exercise.

On the other hand, the right hand, if you dare to see the path to the end of variety, you will as well be in a state of oblivion. So many things, people, responsibilities will pass you, a necessary anchor wont be able to solidify your base, and you will drift in a whirlwind of what others don't anchor to; usually, its made up of complete shit.

In both extremes you are lost. In both extremes reality and each day will continually become less vivid. Less sweet, until its so dull it absorbs all light around it, and darkens the collective day.
