I was in the train car leaving the city when the dark, dark, dark clouds released their wrath. I did not have an umbrella, so I'd left the office a bit early to try and beat the storm home.... but there was no hope. The storms were here. Droplets smashed violently against the large glass windows and veins of electricity danced on every horizon as we chugged on out, out, out of the District. There was nothing to be done but continue on my way.
The train spat me out at my stop at the absolute peak of the downpour. And, of course, my bus was there amidst the waterfall.... doors closing... just about to leave me stranded....
But the driver saw me through the curtain of water! He waved at me to swim through! My bus was waiting for me!
I got utterly drenched in that 20 second dash. Totally soaked. Hair dripping wet down my back and shoes squishing. Eye-glasses fogged and sweater clinging.
But I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It felt like a giant, wet hug. And maybe a kiss, too.
The rain had eased, but there was still plenty of heavenly grumbles as I squished home from my bus stop. I peeled out of my clothes, got right into pajamas, and then ate chicken soup.
And now I'm in bed with Wilber The Dog, and it's a great end to another brain-scrambled-day.
