We've had a few failures, mostly very ordinary meals from the cookbook but it is so much fun. Julia made a spectacular lemon meringue pie - she enjoys using the thermomix because it has lights and beeps and operating it is like playing with an ipod.
The sous vide eggs are my favourite thing - this (link below) egg calculator is brilliant. A sliding scale for how done you like the whites, then a sliding scale for how done you like the yolks. With visual demo for each point on the scale. Its been great fun although you could do the same thing with a saucepan and thermometer if you are willing to keep an eye on it.
I've done some chocolate cookery which went very well. The next thing we are going to try is nougat - an egg white, 400g honey, run it heating and whisking for an hour, add nuts and that's it.
We are still flat out working full time night shifts and so on so I have been too tired to really get stuck in.
