it's strange how victory feels. i'm somehow always disappointed when a tricky goal is achieved and yet i'm not standing on top of a mound of my fallen enemies with a tattered banner waving behind me...instead i'm still just a kid riding away on his bike. some how i expect bugles or at least some sort of theme music.

ah well, clear cut victories are too few and far between in this life to nitpick.

i came back to louisville with a serious of goals to achieve. most of which revolve around developing a set o skills that will serve me well when i ever i decide to say good by city life and begin work on my sustainability based roadside attraction monstrosity. there have been many great strides towards this so far, notably julia loaning me the financial backing to get into a welding class and holly focusing aspects of my plan and several others into the beginnings of a non-profit, but as far as i'm concerned yesterday marks the highwater mark of this particular chapter in my life.

i met up with mr. al goodman who is the driving force behind the preservation of the loop island wetlands http://www.loopislandwetlands.com/ and managed to convince him to let me and the lose affiliation of folks that comprise START! ( the aforementioned non-profit) use his 50 acres of quasi wetlands as our own little permaculture lab. beyond that he is also donating enough space to build a bio diesel refinery and a small brewery, as well as office space and the use of any of his many buildings to hold seminars.

i'm really surprised he agreed to this much, i didn't feel like i had enough information to properly present myself or START! and intended on only listening and asking many questions about what direction he was moving, but it seemed like i had him at every pass. every problem the wetlands presented i had a pretty decent, workable, organic solution to. so in all i think the business man and the kid with foot and a half long matted hair walked away impressed with the possibilities offered by the other.

there's much more to say as well, it's been an incredible month or so and it looks like it's only going to get more interesting....more soon...

i hope you all are well.
