So it has been awhile since I've updated, but I am sick of writing my paper, and therefore taking a break. So I have no idea how I developed these weird study habits of mine. Any OU friends can stop reading now, because I am sure you are sick of hearing about this. But honestly, it just baffles me. I have these weird rhythm of going to bed early (often by midnight, but occasionally like eight PM) and getting up super early to do my work. Take now for example. I have been up for an hour and a half working on a paper that is due today (almost done too!). Check out the time stamp. Thats right, I woke up for the day at 3:45 AM. If this was just a finals week thing it would be fine, but this is something I do two or three times a week, though usually I dont wake up until four or four thirty.
So I was thinking back to how this weird study habit began, and I remembered one night during my sophomore year of high school. My sister and I both had papers due the next day, and neither of us had started them. Because we had one computer, she worked on hers all night, until two or three, and then came and woke me up. I spent about two hours working on my paper, and went back to bed really pleased with my paper. I thought "maybe this is for me." I have never been able to effectively study after school, so I saw this as a mark of genius. I transferred it over into my college career, and spring quarter freshman year I would get up at five every morning to do my work before class. But I had time to take long naps in the afternoon (my roommate was addicted to naps, and got me addicted as well), making up for my sleep loss. Now days, it has become much more extreme. I have no consistent sleeping schedule. Some nights I'll stay up until two and get up at seven, while other nights I'll go to bed at 8 and get up at three. And instead of thinking this was genius like I used to, I have really felt the toll this has taken on my body this quarter.
Now I should be getting back to that paper, and/or studying for my eight AM final. Here is to spring break, and the chance for some regular sleep.
