Hand-Dyed Superwash and Laceweight Merino/Silk Millspun Yarn Originally uploaded by
afranquemont. Here's a lot of what I got up to last week. At left, a huge heap (like 6 pounds) o' superwash top, and at right, a stack of 400-yard millspun handpainted laceweight 50/50 merino/silk skeins.
This week, 5 or so pound of superwash merino/tencel, which should be interesting, along with some baby camel top and some 80s merino. Today I had planned to make a dye day, but they're forecasting rain and I like to let the top dry outside. So, instead, it'll have to be a blending day. Perhaps it's just as well, and my new influx of tussah silk top to dye will also arrive today and be added to the dye stack. So, I guess today will be blends, Tuesday and Wednesday dye days, Thursday I have the next round of dental implant fun so who knows, and Friday new inventory'll be available.
The dyed top section is definitely starting to fill up! It's really cool to see. And the custom blends pile has some cool stuff in it too -- last week's superwash/alpaca/nylon blends came out nicely, for instance. This week's blends are back to superwash/silk and will feature some superwash/alpaca/silk. I guess I'd better get to 'em!
