McGonnagall

I read some of McGonnagall's works online with my roommate. We ended up giving up on one of the poems because it was just so long and boring. The Tay Bridge poem was awful especially in the repetitive parts. I find it hilarious that people (this is in response to Leah finding out that looking up "horrible poets" yields McGonnagall websites.) generally agree that he is such a bad poet, yet he must have been published back in his day, because otherwise we probably wouldn't have his poetry online now (which is too bad really, because his work is something we could do without, unless of course we want to show people what is considered truly awful poetry)
I was remembering a poem i wrote in grade 8 for a poetry assignment, and i can't really remember what it was about, except that i'd probably be really embarassed if i read it today. I don't think they even taught us anything about meter until university. Stanzas and syllabic counting you were lucky to learn in certain highschool English courses, but not many. This all leads me to state again that it is sad that the English language is lost in the school curriculums from kindergarten to grade 12. It (so now apparently my cap locks key must be on for me to type in lower case and my periods don"t work anymore< its kinda wierd so the punctuation won"t be right in the rest of this blog>) Alas (comma) my delete key doesn"t work either so it might not fully make sense now either (period) Perhaps one reason i want to become a teacher is so that i can help children in my classes become capable at spelling words and knowing when to use "which" and when "witch" is supposed to be used instead (period) i think i"m going to call it a night because of my keyboard being messed up (comma) i will try and elaborate more on this blog tomorrow if i can figure out my keyboard (comma) because i would really like to rant a bit more on bad poetry and education (period
