Personal History: One of the main things about this half-blood wizard growing up in Liverpool, England, was that he was rich. His father, Gerard Thorne, was a rather successful Auror, who had quite a vast amount of inheritance left to him in the will of his Muggle parents. Gerard ran the household rather strictly, alongside his ever-loving wife, Annabelle Peters, whom was the common, caring and loving housewife that she had longed to be, and was the Muggle of the family as well. Mac was not the only child. Actually, he was the 2nd of 3 boys, his older brother, Thomas, and his younger brother, Nicholas, each of them one year apart. Of the two of his parents, it was his mother, Annabelle, that Mac had always favored. She had always been so nurturing and respecting of the things that he had done and dreamed about doing. His brothers, the rough ones they were, adored their father and they were adored just as much, if not more, by him in return. Mac was more studious of them, though if he wanted to, he could rough house and roll around in the dirt with the best of them.

He, and his brothers, received the finest education that England could offer. Mac had a different viewpoint on studying than his brothers did, however, which theirs was a more lax and procrastinating viewpoint. He decided to learn all that he could, but not at an extreme pace, and due to that, he did become a very intelligent young man. When he was old enough, the school had issued him to play an instrument. The one that he had taken up was the violin. It took a lot of work for Mac to figure out the workings of the violin, but once he had conquered it, he had adored it. When he started to play it, it began to sooth him. He had always been a fan of music that involved this instrument, but being able to play it now for himself made him feel the best feeling in the world.

After Thomas had turned 5, he began to show his signs of his wizard abilities, then Mac had followed soon after, and then Nicholas a year after that. When it came time to go to Hogwarts, he had become the oddball of the family, in his father's eyes. Gerard was proud to hear the news that his two favorite sons had been let into Gryffindor, just as he had been when he was attending the school, but it puzzled and displeased him to know that Mac had become a Hufflepuff. It didn't bother Mac, however, because he had already had been so enthusiastic about attending, just like his brothers. As he continued out through his years, he had become very obsessed with his Care of Magical Creatures class, probably because he had never seen such wonderful and terrifying things in his entire life. He had done well with most of his other studies, but this was what he had known he had wanted to do with his life. Mac had the dream of becoming the first wizard to create a zoological habitat for all creatures, and let it open to the public, only wizards though, of course, or else he would get himself into trouble with the Ministry, and he knew it. From then on, in every class that he knew could help him in his work towards his goal, towards his dream, he excelled in them more than ever. Though he still kept up in the rest of his studies, mostly ones that he found interesting or useful.

After he had completed his schooling at Hogwarts, he had spoken to his father about his dream, and at that point, he would never feel the same way about his father again. Mac had, at least, once had a great compassion for him, but on that night that it was just mostly torn away. For Gerard Thorne had the hopes that his boys would follow in his footsteps towards the Ministry, Auror or not. All Mac wanted was a some money to help him get him started, but his father had refused rather dramatically. Mac would now become the black sheep of the men in his family, but not from his mother. She had remained ever encouraging, though she could not help her son against Gerard's wishes.

Later, Mac would remove himself from the Thorne family household to make his own living, and make his own money that he could put towards his dream. He was still intending on making that dream come true even today.

Personality: Mac's brilliance is only superceeded by his compassion. If it hadn't been for that, he would have been sent into Ravenclaw straight away. He does find that books are good learning tools, but the world can also do the same, and much, much more. When in school, he preferred the hands-on method rather than the studying out of textbooks all hours of the night, and to have to lose sleep for it. Due to this philosophy, it had made him rather reckless as a boy. Mac had spent many a weekend in the Hospital Wing, because he figured he could finish something correctly himself, without looking in the next page of the textbook, but now, thankfully, for his own safety and for the safety of others as well, he had, more or less, gotten over that little bit of audacity. He probably still does hold the record for making the most trips to the Hospital Wing.

Friendship and loyalty are two of the things he would hold dearest to him, which would probably be one of the main reasons why he made so many of them during his youth, and could be trusted, especially with keeping secrets. He is mostly always so very kind to others, unless another was rude to him first or to other, possibly one of his friends, then he would probably ignore them. Not to say, that if someone he cared about was being harassed on some notion, that he wouldn't stand up for that person. On the contrary, he would slide right into the conversation, stand up for his friend, as well as try to break it apart before it might have escalated into something more.

When it comes to romance, Mac is still somewhat reckless though old fashioned. While he is not attached to another, he is sure not to pass up a good snog when he finds one. Once in a relationship though, he tends to let himself go, a lot. He falls into love rather easily, or so he thinks, and then when he tries to express it, he realizes he pushed too far and then it turns out pretty badly, for him, at the very least. Mac knows this flaw, and tries to constantly fix it, but then he gets upset when it doesn't work out. For the actual process of courtship, however, he is quite the gentleman. He believes in all of the basic traditions, such as, man paying for dinner at all meals out, pulling out the chair for his date, and etc.
