So the power cord on my laptop went fffffft for like the third time, so it's time to ship my baby off and get a new one, *yet again.* Thus, I am effectively unplugged for a week or two, except for jaunts to the library and the times I can wheedle Mary's computer out from under her. Noooo, they be stealing my WIPs!!
Anyway, yesterday morning I did have time to read most of the
3_ships stories, and while I won't have time to do recs this year, the overall quality ranges from pretty good to really very good, so your chances are excellent if you want to dip in randomly. There were a number of oddball little fandoms this time and some surprising combinations (TWO Veronica Mars incest stories and NEITHER of the Supernatural stories were? I did not see that coming!) No SGA this year, sadly.
The very best of them, in my *not at all biased* opinion, was the story written for me,
Texas Forever -- guys, I got my Lyla/Jason/Tim story in Friday Night Lights!!! And it's sweet and believable and focused on the ordinary just like the show is, and it's Tim, watching yet another happy family from a slight difference, only this time it's *his* happy family, and he is so darling in his lingering surprise and quiet happiness. And Jason is sharp and focused, as he should be, and Lyla is WONDERFUL and bossy and kind and determined, and it is awesome.
In other hot tips for them who likes that kind of thing, the Oz Gift of the Magi exchange yielded one very, very excellent threesome story called
Beggar's Banquet (Beecher/O'Reily/Alvarez, post-series), and the SGA Santa yielded
Missing Man Formation, a three-hanky OT4 that's great reading for those of us with the inner fortitude for that kind of thing. Neither of them have any explicit sex, but they're both lovely stories about family -- actually, the same should be said about "Texas Forever," as well. Guess it's no great secret what I like. *g*
