Just dropping by to say that I intend to nominate Bob's Burgers for this year's Yuletide .. and that I love that Friend Fiction episode for many reasons as well (the Macintosh 1984 commercial being just one of the aspects that made me squee.)

Oh, wonderful! I'm tempted to request it again because it didn't get written. So sad, this must be remedied! ♥

Heh, yeah I usually have a hard time with Yuletide in those years I can't think of anything to request (as I always seem to fall in love with fandoms so tiny that no one ever writes them. :p)

But a few days ago--having watched the first two seasons on Netflix with my son--I said, "I must have more Louise!" ~ W

I don't usually know this early what to request, but I'm already plotting using 2 of the 3 above again, and replacing Ben and Kate with The Tomorrow People (CW), though I don't even know whether I'll like it or not. :D

I hope signups are late October, only because the premiere of TTP is Oct. 9. Selfish, I know.

hehe!

Well, we should watch for the pre-nomination post that lets you trumpet your favorite underappreciated fandoms -- the fact that Bob's is on netflex certainly makes it more accessible.

I keep a Notepad file on my desktop just for jotting down things I'd love to see (coming up with things to offer to write never stymies me as much as asking for things, especially since my assigned writers have defaulted every year but one that I've done Yuletide since 2005. Granted, I've received some lovely pinch hits over the years, but it's given me a a bit of a complex about asking for anything. Typhoid Requestor.:p)

I've definitely been lucky in that regard. I've only gone out to pinch hit once in the six years I've participated.

Most of the AO3 years, I've requested all four slots, made one of them a gimme, and offered 30+ fandoms. One year it was 60+, I think!

I played last year differently than usual. I requested only three with no gimme fandom (to make sure it was something I truly wanted) and offered only six things, all things I didn't request. I was pleased with how it turned out, so I may do that again.

I think it does help that I request TV or movies most of the time. Easier to get takers. What genres have you requested?

Oh, a "gimme" -- is that when you throw in something that you're pretty sure you'll get matched on? (My gimme request in 2011 was Oglaf, and though it did go to pinch the fic I received was four kinds of marvelous.)

Holy crap -- you were able to offer 60 fandoms? I'm massively impressed! I usually offer the anime and manga fandoms I know well, and toss in Greek mythology and Fairy tales as the gimmes on the offering end (I've been matched on the latter two every year but one).

Yeah movie fandoms especially are much easier to jump into.

(This is terrible. I'm getting psyched already and it's still at least 10 weeks before anything starts! :p)

A gimme is sort of like that... It's a fandom that is easy to pick up just in case the person you are matched with didn't get inspired by your prompts. Also tends to make treats more likely.

I usually do it, but I didn't last year. Didn't get sent to pinch hit, but also no treat. No big!

I'm excited by yuletide year round. I'm even still working on a WIP that is a sequel to my main assignment last year. It's now 34,000 words. :D
