Oh, to be busy.
Yesterday was AWESOME. I was busy all day! I was really tired by 8pm! That hasn't happened in months. I got up early with Rob on the auspices of getting him ready for yet another TDY. Turns out they didn't leave until well after 10am, and that the person he drove with (D) is just as bad on a road trip as I imagined him to be. D is the worst sort of contractor in the sense that he has his fingers in everything, but is supremely disorganized. So his absentmindedness (I'd bet the farm on Adult ADD. I fantasize about spiking his coffee with Ritalin) negatively affects many many people. It has led to finding out about TDY's at the last minute, people getting calls because they are the engineer on a very technical project that they knew nothing about, D being given a secretary (that no one else at his GS level has, I might add), and quite possibly the world's messiest office.
I went up to DMS to volunteer, and actually had a lot to do. I built a bookshelf ( I love using tools!), graded tests, taught yet another teacher how to use the copier, and made lots of copies. I ran home for lunch, took a friend to the airport (which is right outside of the base) went to the gym and met up with my bowling team. They didn't actually need me to bowl, so I stayed for a game and left. The bowling alley had really good food. They don't cook anything until you order, so my grilled chicken was juicy and actually grilled (unlike fast food "grilled" chicken).
