22% increase in rent

And once I burned all the excuses they passed me (the 3% per unit tax increase, the less then 5% per unit improvements to the building, everybody else pays this why not you), one was left. Greed.

I have to tighten my belt once again, and even then, I might be on the streets (in a shiny new car, but still with no home) come October. The worst part is all the extras i got the last few months, cost too much to cancel to offset the increase. I'd have to pay penalties on cancelling my car purchase (finalized yesterday), cancel my cable contract (at a tune of of around 600$ by the time the rent increase comes in), not smoke pot (the vice that makes me not go crazy) and no longer take all the wonderful pain medications that allow me to work and make money. There is also the unmentionable option of cutting child care payments to my ex. I'd have to stop eating as healthy as I do as well. Just to keep the status quo of having a roof over my head, and not starve.

Why oh why is this, because we have a conservative government that believes landlords when they say rent control does not work. Really, tell that to the growing by 1 person world record group of homeless people that have jobs that pay double minimum wage.
