Taking a short break from frantically trying to get ready for Schroeder's party tomorrow. It's not going to be a huge deal, but it's the first time I've invited anyone but the Brummer family to our house. Then, we're going to Houston to the TX Renaissance Festival. We found out about it a little too late to rent a cabin, but we found a hotel about 30 miles away.
Chad came for a visit last weekend. He has a girlfriend that he brought. I was a little worried that she'd be stupid or weird because all I'd heard from my dad was that she was drop dead gorgeous and a dead ringer for Rebecca Romijn Whatever-it-is-now. She ended up being a normal person and only 5 years younger than him, which was a relief. And she's another Ole Miss grad. We all went to Shiner together. I forgot to pack Scooter an extra outfit and had to buy him a Octoberfest beer shirt, that looked like a gown. It didn't occur to me that they wouldn't have baby souvenier shirts at the brewery. He was so cute, but my parents would kill me. I also got us our first matching outfits (don't worry; we won't wear them at the same time) with the cover art from Hi How Are You, Daniel Johnston's first album. I'd forgotten he was from Texas. Chad drove down my piano, grandfather clock, chess table, and dining table, most of which was from my grandfather. We're trying to distribute it around the house, but...
We've been having problems getting the paint off the floor in the master bedroom. Given the age of the house, we're pretty sure that some of it might be lead based. Larry started sanding it off and didn't realize the particles were going everywhere. Fortunately, we'd shut the door; but most of the things got a good coating of dust. We ordered some soy based paint remover that was specifically designed for removing such troublesome paint. Hopefully, it will arrive soon and we can finish the floors.
