Title: Toasts, Cheers and Growing a Couple Pairs

Sharpay grinned as she entered the frat party near campus. She looked over her shoulder at her friends Troy and Chad. “Come on, you two.”
“Why are we here again?” Chad asked as Sharpay looped her arms with theirs.
“Because we’re celebrating the fact that we’re in college.”
“I’m not in the mood to celebrate,” Troy stated.
“Me either.”
Sharpay sighed. They had been acting like love sick puppies since their high school crushes left for schools in other states. She would feel sorry for them if they had actually asked the girls out, but they didn’t, so she didn’t.
“Oh get over your science geeks,” Sharpay rolled her eyes. “I got over my baker.”
“They’re not geeks,” the boys chorused.
“Guys, come on,” Sharpay sighed. “This is our first college party. We have to celebrate that. Then if you two want to go back to your dorm room and mope about not having the balls to ask your dream girls out in high school, I won’t stop you.”
“Fine,” they sighed.
The trio found drinks and Sharpay made a toast, “To college and partying and to the hope that you two will grow balls before we graduate.”
“Here - hey!”
“What do you mean hope that we grow balls?” Troy asked.
“We have balls,” Chad stated.
“Then why didn’t you guys ask Gabriella and Taylor out?”
Chad and Troy looked at each other then their feet.
“Mmm hmm, that’s what I thought.” She smirked. “Let me know when your balls come in, we’ll celebrate.”
“We didn’t want to get turned down,” Troy said when she started to walk away.
“Troy,” Chad hissed.
“You thought they, the science geeks, would turn you two, star basketball players, down?”
“We’re not smart and we’re not sophisticated,” Troy said.
“But you guys are awesome.”
“Yeah, you think so because you’ve known us our whole lives,” Chad stated. “But girls like Taylor and Gabriella, they wanted guys with manners. They wouldn’t be impressed with my ability to burp the ABCs like you are.”
“Thanks…I think,” Sharpay said.
“It’s a good thing,” Chad assured her.
She smiled at him. “But seriously, guys, you’re both super charming and any girl would be crazy to reject either of you,” she stated. “Now come on, let’s make another toast.”
“About what?”
“To celebrate starting anew.”
They clanked glasses then Chad nudged Troy.
“Cute girls.”
And they were off.
“Cheers.”
