Today, I spent the whole afternoon baking with Mom. The whole experience was awesome. Since i've moved out fm home almost six months ago, i hardly get to spend an extended time with her. And spending so much time with her today, brought back many fond memories i have with her when i was growing up. I remember her picking me up fm church on Sundays and bringing me to Parkway to hv McDonalds (she'll just watch me eat while she sips coffee). Or how she brought my brother and I jungle tracking at Trengganu Lake in Malaysia. I also remember the delicious soups she'll cook for me when just to the two of us were living in Pine Grove. She also bought me my first pair of dumb bells and encouraged me to run and workout.
How the roles hv changed. Now i'm the one watching out for her and encouraging her to keep learning and to try new stuff.
I must say i'm really proud of Mom. In her 50s and she still goes to the gym regularly in the mornings. She does ballroom dancing and she's learning Chinese dance. She just picked up Sudoku (She's playing the "Hard" puzzles, while i'm still on "Easy"). She's also reading more these days...We recently went to Times bookstore and picked out a book each :) While hvg dinner tonight, she told me she's going to pick up the Guzhen next year :D (Due to the influence of a certain individual...hee).
The above shouldn't surprise me i guess. In her prime, my mom is rather dynamic. Working as a mgr in foreign banks, picking up french, learning pottery, opening a bridal shop along orchard road, followed by a textile business for a while.
I'm really blessed to know a women like her, my Mom :)
