Madison. Four days of fun fun fun. I arrived and it felt like I never left which is a somewhat unsettling and comforting feeling at the same time. It was whirlwind of old faces- arthur, david muhammed, lilia, yoseph, davidian, alvin, pabitra to name a few. Yet, I realized on day 2 of my visit that Madison never changes and that was precisely why I was so itching to leave. Genna's, Cafe Momarte, Cardinal, Hawks (the new amy's cafe), Nam's Noodles. In the mcsc corner of the red gym, I found old pictures of me and other old heads who are now scattered in the bay, milwaukee, korea, nyc, chi still doing "save the world shit" (as mike liked to call it). It made me nostalgic and appreciative of the past but also reminded me of how much I have moved on from that period in my life and specifically, Madison. It's a great place to visit but moving back would feel like a time warp.
Yet, this law school visit has been the best one so far. It's a progressive school with great clinical opportunities, prominent and cited professors, smart AND fun students, and efforts to actively put in $$$ for diversity (35% people of color) which is more than schools out here in nyc and boston. The apalsa/salsa students I met were dope enough to maybe convince me to go back to madison.
plus midwesterners are not jaded like people in nyc.
flip flop. gotta make some decisions soon. gonna miss the east coast like crazy if i leave :(
Leaving you a random funny excerpt from victor's email this morning:
"one of my coworkers is talking about how a guy on the t (Boston's public subway)
this morning sat in two drops of menstrual leakage left on the seat by
the woman right before him, making him one of the select few men in
the world to have a period stain on his way to work. awesome!"
